Samsung Pauses One UI 7 Rollout Due to Critical Bugs

TN-Samsung Pauses One UI 7 Rollout Due to Critical Bugs (2)
Samsung has halted the global rollout of its One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, following reports of significant bugs affecting device functionality and user privacy. The update, which began rolling out on April 7, 2025, to devices such as the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6, has been suspended to address these issues.

Key Issues Identified

Device Unlocking Problems

Some Galaxy S24 users reported being unable to unlock their devices after installing the One UI 7 update. The lock screen appeared distorted, rendering the device unusable. This issue was first highlighted by users in South Korea and subsequently reported by Ice Universe. In response, as a precaution, Samsung has paused the update for all devices worldwide.

Secure Folder Privacy Flaw

A critical bug was discovered in the Secure Folder feature, which is designed to keep private photos, videos, and files hidden. The flaw causes private images stored in the Secure Folder to become accessible via auto-generated Stories in the Gallery app.

When these stories are created, users receive smartphone notifications that expose the contents outside the locked folder. This issue potentially affects devices such as the Galaxy S24, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and S25 models using One UI 7.

Samsung's Response

Samsung has confirmed the suspension of the One UI 7 update, stating that the rollout schedule is being updated to "ensure the best possible experience." The company has not provided a specific timeline for when the update will resume except for the Galaxy S24 series users. Only they will get the update by today.

Recommendations for Users

Users who have already installed the One UI 7 update are advised to disable the auto-create Stories feature in the Secure Folder's Gallery app to mitigate privacy risks. Additionally, those experiencing unlocking issues should contact Samsung support for assistance.
