Prime Video’s Apple TV Upgrade: Faster, Smarter, and More Impulsive Than Ever

Amazon has rolled out a significant update to its Prime Video app for Apple TV which brings a set of new features designed to improve usability, navigation, and accessibility. The update is available for all Apple TV models, from the original Apple TV HD to the latest Apple TV 4K. With these enhancements, Prime Video now feels more integrated with the Apple ecosystem.

  1. Enhanced Navigation and Faster Scrolling

One of the standout improvements is the updated navigation system, which is now fully accessible through the Siri Remote. Users can swipe in any direction to browse content, making scrolling faster and more reflexive.

Before the update, searching for content on the Prime Video app required typing full titles, making it a lengthy process. Now the new update introduces real-time search suggestions, meaning the app now auto-populates relevant results as users type.

  1. Visual and Auditory Enhancements

The latest update brings higher-resolution images throughout the app, making the interface more visually attractive. The addition of a parallax effect—where background images move at a different speed than foreground elements—adds a sense of depth to the interface. Users will also experience new sound effects while navigating through menus, enhancing the overall user experience.

  1. Advanced Video Playback Controls

Amazon has made significant improvements to video playback controls. While Prime Video does not yet use the default tvOS video player, the update allows users to utilize Apple’s rewind and fast-forward scrubbing. By pausing a video, users can hold their finger on the remote’s touch wheel for a moment and then rotate to skip forward or backward. Additionally, traditional fast-forward and rewind controls using the left and right buttons are also available.

Amazon has added Apple’s best-in-class accessibility tools into Prime Video’s Apple TV app, making it more inclusive for users with visual weaknesses. The update now supports VoiceOver, Hover Text, and Bold Text, ensuring that users with different needs can navigate and interact with the app more comfortably.
