iOS 18.3.1: Why Are Users Discussing It?

20250209-232207
Apple has been rolling out exciting updates and features to its ecosystem, and the iOS 18.3.1 release is no exception. Whether you’re using the latest iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, these updates bring some important changes, enhancements, and new experiences. In this article, we’ll dive into everything Apple has introduced with the iOS 18.3.1 update.

iOS 18.3.1 Update: What’s New?

The iOS 18.3.1 update, which has been available for a couple of weeks now, brings both new features and crucial bug fixes to Apple devices. One of the key highlights of this release is improved battery life, which many users have reported as being more stable and longer-lasting compared to previous updates. This update also brings a smoother experience, especially for those with older devices like the iPhone 12, where users noted that the update didn’t negatively affect performance.

However, no update is 100% user-friendly in every expect, there are always some lacking. Some iPhone users have experienced minor issues with screen stuttering and a delay in touch responsiveness. While these problems have not been widespread, Apple is actively working to fix these glitches in upcoming software updates.

There is no major concern regarding the temperature of the devices after updating, rather, in some cases, users find that the temperatures decreased slightly compared to the usages of previous versions.

  1. Eliminating malware: There were some specific apps that contained malware that could record the screen. Though Apple approved those apps earlier, this time they successfully removed them & hopefully there is no more sitting.
  2. Effects on CPU benchmark: According to some polls, and statistics of different tech communities, the score goes down in the first 1/2 days, but after that, the score goes up & beats the previous scores.
  3. Ai collab & improvements: Though there was a side-by-side use of CHATGPT & SIRI, now users will get it by default with a more user-friendly interface. Users have to stay aware of the storage consumption of Apple Intelligence.

Commonly Resolved Issues:

  1. Genmoji: Fixed an issue where personalized Genmoji might not generate unless a different person was selected first.
  2. HealthKit authorization: Fixed an issue where HealthKit authorization might not persist, causing repeated permission prompts.
  3. Writing Tools APIs: Fixed an issue where third-party apps using Writing Tools API couldn't access full inline experience if the first responder wasn't a UIView.
  4. Google Search Dark Mode: Though the feature was available in the past, this time it is optimized to change more quickly & sharply.

What would come next?

We are hearing different types of rumors, like some sources saying we will directly get iOS 19.0 in the next 2/3 months, some saying first Apple will give a patch update by solving minor issues, & we are also hearing about iOS 18.4 also. Let's wait & see, till then feel the features of the current one.
