Elon Musk Unveils Grok 3, xAI’s Latest AI Chatbot, as OpenAI Rejects His $97.4 Billion Bid
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, released its latest AI chatbot, Grok 3, on Monday at 8 p.m. Pacific Time.Musk claims that Grok 3 has advanced logic capabilities, surpassing the existing AI chatbots, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT. A live demonstration will showcase its features, such as Tesla integration and a live-voice mode.
"We’re very excited to present Grok 3, which is, we think, an order of magnitude more capable than Grok 2 in a very short period of time.”
Grok 3 has been trained using xAI’s Colossus supercomputer. The system is powered by 100,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs to provide 200 million GPU hours for training, which exceeded Grok 2 by ten times, making it one of the most computationally advanced AI models to date. Grok 3 can run big datasets in a shorter time frame while providing enhanced accuracy.
According to Musk,
"It offers high inference and problem-solving skills. It is a game-changer in the AI industry."
Musk’s Bid for OpenAI Rejected
In a parallel development, Musk recently led a group of investors that offered $97.4 billion to acquire OpenAI. However, OpenAI’s board directly rejected the bid, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that artificial intelligence benefits humanity. This move further highlights the escalating rivalry between Musk’s xAI and OpenAI, a company he co-founded in 2015 but later distanced himself from due to disagreements over its motive.
Ongoing AI Rivalry and Future Implications
Musk has been vocal about his concerns regarding OpenAI’s transition from a non-profit to a for-profit entity, even suing OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in an attempt to block the change. At the same time, xAI continues its push for innovation, with Grok 3 expected to be a key player in the evolving AI landscape.
As the AI race intensifies, the industry watches closely to see whether Grok 3 can live up to Musk’s bold claims and redefine the chatbot market.
