Apple has promised over $500 billion toward expanding its operations across the United States over the next four years. This represents the company’s largest-ever investment in its home country, aimed at strengthening advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), and silicon engineering.

The investment will fund new initiatives in multiple states, including Michigan, Texas, California, Arizona, and North Carolina. A centerpiece of this investment is a new 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, which is expected to create thousands of jobs and focus on producing servers that power Apple Intelligence, the company’s personal AI ecosystem.

Apple is doubling its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund from $5 billion to $10 billion. Established in 2017, the fund supports domestic manufacturing and workforce development, helping the U.S. maintain its competitive edge in tech.
A significant part of this expansion involves Apple’s partnership with TSMC at its Fab 21 facility in Arizona. The factory, which employs over 2,000 workers, will manufacture Apple’s advanced silicon chips used in products like the iPhone and Mac.

Apple’s research and development (R&D) spending in the U.S. has nearly doubled over the past five years—and this investment will accelerate even further. The company plans to hire 20,000 new employees focused on areas like custom silicon, AI, and machine learning, expanding existing R&D hubs nationwide.
Apple’s recently announced iPhone 16e will benefit directly from these advancements. It features the new Apple C1 modem, the first in-house cellular chip that promises better efficiency and performance.
